The corridor that punishes a late start hardest. After the titer test there is a 180-day waiting period that nothing can shorten — start eight months out and you are already close to the edge.

What’s required
ISO microchip
Implanted before both rabies vaccinations to be accepted.
First rabies vaccination
Administered after the microchip.
Second rabies vaccination
At least 30 days after the first, and while the first is still valid.
Rabies antibody titer test
Blood drawn after the second vaccination and sent to a designated laboratory. Turnaround is typically three to four weeks.
Advance notification
Submitted to the arrival airport's quarantine office.
Export certificate with USDA endorsement
MAFF Form A/C completed by an accredited vet and endorsed by USDA APHIS.
